15/3/15
The weather had turned cooled off after a cyclone had bought a bit of rain down to Perth. I got an early start and drove up the 40 mins up Brookton Highway to the Carinyah Circuit. I was riding out of the car park at 8.40 am. I rode the 3 km up to join the circuit and rode it in a counter clockwise direction - the markers tend to direct you that way. At 9.30 am I found a log with 2 bolts in it, with some old machinery next to it, so I guess this is Smailes Mill or Newton's No 2 Mill - I am not sure which one. At 9.40am the Trail goes right passed some concrete foundations near Dale Rd which I guess is No 1 Sleeper mill. Soon after the Carinyah Circuit re joined the Munda Biddi. I headed straight to the Carinyah campsite and had a quick break there. At the end of Summer the water tanks were nearly full. My ride was pretty slow as I was taking a few photos and getting some video - see below for the highlights. I then completed the rest of the circuit, and returned to the car park at Brookton H'way. The whole Trail was pretty flat with only a couple of small sharp hills. The rain had compacted the gravel a bit, so it was a quick easy ride.
The Circuit was relatively flat and quite gravely in sections. It is a great introduction to the Munda Biddi Trail - see my Track notes on the Munda Biddi for heaps more info.
